Benefits of Private School

There are several benefits to private education. According to the United States Department of Education, private school students often score higher on standardized tests such as the SAT, meet more stringent graduation requirements, take more advanced high school classes and complete college more often than graduates of private school. Class sizes are usually smaller than at public schools. Students may also feel safer and have a lower chance of being bullied, as most private schools make the creation of a safe learning environment a priority. Parents may also be more involved at a private school. Since parents pay tuition for the children to attend private schools, they sometimes are more active than parents of public school students. Another benefit for families is that many private schools are also faith based, and include components of religious instruction. The U.S. Department of Education reports that for most private schools, promoting a religious life was one of the most important goals of the school. For parents and students for whom these factors are a priority, attending a private school may be a good option.
